Many El Pasoans have never seen the 'thunderbird' image in the rocks on the west side of Mount Franklin - Well, I know I was not aware of it when I attended high school on the east side of the mountain. Now that my wife and I have retired and returned to sun city we live in the upper valley and this is a view we get on a daily basis. The formation is completely natural and does not stand out to the casual passerby. Coronado High School is located below the formation and their teams are named... The Thunderbirds.
